The things I get excited about

OK, so I've always loved shopping for clothes, but I never thought I'd be blogging about a nursing tank top! I heard about this brand called GlamourMom and found them at a cute local store in Gilbert (Chicky Bella in the Gilbert Town Square shopping area). The thing I love about it is they make them extra long and it's perfect for my 5'10" frame. I got one in chocolate and may have to go back for the black even though it's $40. Totally worth it to me and it's not like I can't wear it after I'm done nursing. It's a nice thick cotton fabric with a substantial shelf bra (no show-through of you know what and you can't see the nursing pads either.) You can wear it alone or layered under something or even to sleep in.

My friend Melissa needs to take note of these tanks since she's tall, too. Might as well buy one now for future use :-)

Good new and bad news

I haven't posted since Mother's Day, but things are about the same around here with the exception of watching Andrew grow and change everyday! OK, so things aren't quite the same around here :-) What hasn't changed is we are still at home everyday hanging out with our new favorite guy. I'm still on maternity leave enjoying my time off and Jeff is too.

However, work is looming as I had a meeting with my boss last Thursday to discuss my schedule when I return in June. I'm planning to return part time for a while, so I am very glad my job and boss are flexible in working around my wants and needs. I am very blessed in that respect.

For those of you who don’t already know, the reason I want to work PT is because Jeff is being deployed at the end of June. The good news is that this is a “safe” area deployment. It’s a peacekeeping mission in the Sinai peninsula (between Egypt and Israel) (www.mfo.gov) that he has been wanting to be a part of for many years. We realize it’s horrible timing with Andrew just arriving, but it’s something Jeff just cannot pass up for the experience, his career, the money, etc. While there are lots of pros and cons to this, it’s going to be very hard to have him away as Andrew grows in his first year. The good news is that we live in a world of high technology and we’ll be able to talk to him, see him via webcam and e-mail all the time. Andrew will see Dad all the time—just not in the flesh for about a year!

As I said, I am so lucky to have the opportunity to work part time and not be a working single parent! I know it will be hard and we’ll need all the emotional support we can get, but we’ll manage. Just keep us in your prayers!

1 Month Photos

I can't believe our little man is a month old already! He is changing every day and doing so well. We just love holding and kissing and loving on him all day, but we really wish his other family could be here to enjoy him, too. He misses his Grandma May and Aunt Beth and really wants to meet his other grandma, aunt, uncle and cousins! Here are some photos of Andrew at 1 month.

1 Month Old (and cute as ever)

Andrew is one month old today (OK, yesterday technically since as I write this it is now 12:45 a.m. and Andrew is finally asleep...) Time really IS flying by. We took a long 3-hour nap this evening so we're just now settling down for the night. (hopefully!)

The family had our first "real" outing today to Quiznos for lunch and Target for shopping. Andrew did great sleeping through it all. He surprised one elated shopper who spied him in the baby sling after she first thought I was just carrying a big purse! It's fun to show him off, but we're still limiting the public exposure for now. I may take him to work next week if I can handle all these people wanting to touch/hold him!

3 weeks already

Andrew is now 3 weeks old and getting bigger by the day. It's so fun to see him grow and to take care of him everyday. I do need to get outside more though because I haven't seen the light of day much these past few weeks. It's hard to leave when I'm his primary source of food!

Jeff was at guard duty this weekend and gets home tonight thankfully. It was Andrew and I's first night alone last night and things went pretty well. He is a good sleeper usually and is napping now at 2:30 p.m. He seems to like to nap around this time. He napped from 2:30 - 6 p.m. yesterday and it was hard to wake him up to eat. Unfortunately it makes him not go to bed until 11 or 11:30 p.m. I am getting some things done around the house when I can, but it's hard!
